Maybe I'm jaded and untrusting but the need to have a WordPress.com account to use the plugin tells me I'm going to get emails to enhance my account to a paid service.
Sorry WordPress, the plugin looks like I could use it, but not at what price I think it will cost me.

  2. WordPress.com will never email you. The connection is needed in order to power many of the features of the plugin.

Just giving my perspective as someone who uses and enjoys the plugin :)

I as well have never been bothered by JetPak or WordPress to upgrade to anything. Your e-mail will be required for many plugin registrations and for the most part people just want to know who your are, human, or not, friend or foe? Or for a means of overall safety, ie. "don't mess with us, we know who you are".

I've been working with Word Press sites for more than three years now (I have four websites) and have never been approached by Word Press or any of their affiliates to buy anything.

I love Jetpack features, but deactivated it because it seemed to be causing my site to slow down. For example, it would take 90 seconds or so to switch from the Home page to the About page. I deactivated Jetpack and the problem went away.

You've convinced me. I've added the plugin to a couple of my WordPress sites. I'll check its performance but so far so good.

    Thanks for the comments !

Two words: Awe Some. Definitely safe. I would've paid money for this.

    Win - Win.
