Hi All. I have been searching for a good portfolio type theme for my website. Almost all portfoli / grid style theme i searched have one or the other drawback. While i want the post title to be visible always, most portfolio themes have the post title appear only when you hover your mouse. Basically i am searching for a theme that would look something like this http://i.imgur.com/YHpqtsK.jpg

The nearest best theme i could find that suited my needs is "sunspot". The theme is responsive too and thats the best part of it. But one major drawback is that it displays the excerpt also.

Basically i am looking for some documentation for:
    1. customising the homepage look - remove excerpts, meta data like tags be removed, add author name on frontpage posts.
    2. Transform the theme from DARK to LIGHT using CSS.

But i do not know where to start from. Can anyone guide me?

First create a Child Theme so that your changes are not overwritten and lost when the theme is updated - http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

Create a copy (in the Child Theme) of the template that's used for the homepage - you'll make changes there.

Start learning some basics about CSS - this is a good site:

    http://www.w3schools.com/css/

Download and begin using Firebug - it's indispensable for CSS and other development work: http://getfirebug.com

For theme specific questions about the changes you want to make, post in the Theme's sub-forum - for example for Sunspot here:
