I would like to display some text/html code directly on the Dashboard. This would be alert messages, help and instructions for the authors. Unfortunately, the only widget I found for this doesn't work on version 2.7.
If there's no widget is there an easy way to do this?

I would like to have such a kind of a widget too. I would like to use it for communication between the different Authors on my blog. Like a kind of mini-forum.
Have searched for it in the plugins directory, but didn't found one unfortunately.

The Dashboard seems like a perfect place for announcements to all users. I'm surprised that I can't find a way to do this. Am I missing something obvious that's already built in?

Have you looked at the dashboard code to see how others have piped their information to the dash?

No. I can do a little PHP programming, but I found the dashboard.php code and wouldn't know where to start, or even if that's the right place.
