    Here is my site http://steveruddyphotography.com/

As you can see I have added a few menu items to the navigation. I would like to try different themes but when I activate them the navigation links I created on the front end via the menu page disappear after I active a new theme. I can cut and paste or alter code if needed but don't know were to do it.

If I understand what you are asking for correctly, go to
Dashboard / Appearance / Menu. Your menu should remain defined between themes. When you change themes you often have to assign the existing menu to a new menu area defined in the new theme. That is done in the upper left hand corner on the menu page.

That is because different themes uses different identifiers for their menu areas. The menu-to-menu-identifier association is done by menu identifier.

You will often find a similar issue with widgets when changing themes.

Menus and Widgets are still there, they just have to be reconnected to the new theme.

Before you told me this I changed the location of the PHP tag to $menu and it worked. I hope I didn't cause any problems down the line cause I don't remember what is was before I replaced it. Thanks for the info!

If what you did is change the menu identifier in the new theme to the same one that was in the old theme, that should work fine. I was just talking about using a different theme as you received it, without code changes. If what you did is working there's nothing else you need to do.

I'll do it the way you described next time. It's quicker and easier.

    Thanks again.
