Nav menu is different on homepage and individual post
-
Hello,
I thought my navigation menu was ready to go after I made changes to the style.css to make the navigation align the way I wanted it to, but then as I was testing it in my website I clicked on an individual post and noticed that my navigation squishes to the left when I click on individual posts. I don’t know what the problem is or how to fix it b/c if I fix the css for it to work on individual posts then it will be different on the home page. Please help, thank you.
Here is the link to the homepage:

Try sorting out the markup errors. Then move onto the CSS errors.
Probably still related to this:
And these seem applicable:
okay I will look into what you both posted, but what exactly are markup errors? what does that mean? Thank You!
See Validating_a_Website.
wow thank you both VERY much for your help! after fixing the markup errors I figured out that I had accidently set something in my nav menu’s css as “17” instead of 17px, so of course the navigation was not working. Thanks guys π
Glad we could help but I would also suggest that you also fix the issue with your theme’s header.php file. Right now you have lines being generated about the DOCTYPE line on your pages.
“Right now you have lines being generated about the DOCTYPE line on your pages. ” what does this mean, I don’t understand.
I do actually have an issue and I think it’s with the header, on firefox its fine but when I use safari my header (logo and navigation) moves way up to the top leaving no clear space/breathing space on top.Is this what you mean? Thanks
You’ve apparently added this code:
<link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Roboto' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'> <link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=GFS+Didot' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'> <link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Carme' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>
You cannot have any code above the DOCTYPE of a webpage – it’s invalid coding and IE hates that.
Or those lines have been added by a poor Google Fonts plugin.
OH! I understand. Thank You. I actually did add that code myself, I will put it on the bottom. I’m assuming it’s okay to add it to the bottom.
Put it after the
</title>
element. No – those lines should be added to the
<head></head>
section of your pages via your theme’s header.php template file.got it thanks
after everything seemed to be working, again im having another problem with my navigation. it looks different on different browsers. when you hover over “portfolio” and then hover over “photography” this part of the navigation looks different on different browsers. it is fine on firefox, but on safari, google chrome, or opera it looks different. the spacing between “photography” and “animals, food” is way bigger on other browsers than it is on firefox.
Also, on a side note my header is fine on firefox but on the other browsers it moves slighly up and its very irritating b/c i don’t know why.
please help. thank you
