First, I am using the newest Beta version, but software is not my thing and I do not remember if it is 2.9.1 -beta or whatever. I just updated this morning, 7 May 2010.

While setting up a site for a non-profit professional association I test various features to try and understand the functionality. I sent myself (to a different address than the WordPress registered address) a couple of 'Comments' using the embedded functionality on the bottom of the static pages. Now the user name and user email address appear to be permanently listed in these fields. I tried deleting them, I tried changing the fields to 'not required;' neither method worked. The information still appears.

I do not want names and email addresses, mine or anyone else's, to 'stick' to the pages. How do I correct this issue?

Not without hacking the core or finding a plugin that will remove them for you.

Does this mean that anyone who posts a comment will have their name and email address displayed on the blog page until the next person comes along and comments?

If so I could make the fields optional rather than required in order to submit a post, but will I still receive their email address in my role as administrator/moderator to contact people when they submit comments? This will be necessary to have for contacting people who want to join the association. I know there are other ways to set up email and communication, but the comments field is very handy and pretty tempting as it is already there.

No. That depends upon your theme's comments.php template file. Most comment template files do not list email addresses on the site..

Thanks esmi, I think I understand. The 'problem' seems to be that my laptop remembers and displays the info. When I viewed the blog from another person's log-in using a different browser the name and address were not displayed. Just for your info, I use Firefox and the other person uses IE.

In the future I will check with other members of the association and if necessary will look into using a different theme.
