    Hi,
I recently tried to update a plugin using the auto update option in my dashboard, it did not work (After several attempts) so after contacting the author of Viper's Video Quick Tag's and manually updating as suggested I still get the message in my dashboard - An automated WordPress update has failed to complete - please attempt the update again now. and it will not go away, any idea's please.

Check for a file called .maintenance in your blog directory and delete it if it is there.

What if it's not there? I can see other "hidden" type files but don't see a .maintenance file.
