• I’ve just had my first review on my first plugin and its a one star.
    Fair enough.

    What I don’t understand is the reviewer appears to be anonymous.

    It originally came up as ‘anonymous’ but today it doesn’t even say that and it appears the account has been deleted.
    I thought you had to login to review a plugin?
    Is there any way of removing reviews for what I suspect are rogue reviewers by non existent accounts?
    Is this a common problem? I feel rather disheartened.

  • Hey.

    You’re right, you do have to be logged in to review a plugin.

    The user may have simply deleted their account. Alternatively, there have been a few database-related issues on WordPress.org today. I will check if your problem’s been caused by this and let you know.

    Alas, there’s no way to figure out what on earth happened there. The timing is right for the DB problem we had last week though, so that’s probably what it is 🙁 No way to fix it either. I deleted it since they’ll never get update email alerts anyway.

    You are a superstar thanks!
    I accepted the review (the current help section IS poor and I’ve taken the advice and and am improving) – I was just wondering why they were anonymous. Sounds like the DB glitch is the answer.

    However, now the plugin is coming up with no reviews, but still 1 star, which looks rather suspicious to regular users!
    Is it straight forward to reset to ‘0’ i.e no stars at all? If not don’t worry, you’ve both been more than helpful so far and i really do appreciate the pointers.
