You will need to change/upgrade your account to a Linux (PHP) or Deluxe Windows with CGI (cgi-b) for WordPress to work.
How to upgrade your existing hosting plan with GoDaddy.
1. Login to your account at http://www.godaddy.com
2. Hover over Hosting & Servers, click on My Hosting Account
3. Click on your domain name under the Hosting Account column
4. On the right, click on Upgrade/Downgrade Hosting Plan
5. Select the new plan. Any plan with PHP is preferable, but a Deluxe Windows with CGI will also work.
Also, please note WordPress does not work with accounts that Godaddy calls “Free with Domain”.
Please note an Econony PHP – Linux will work just fine.
Oh, good lord everything needs more money doesn’t it? hehe.
As far as you are concerned, is there any reason I should do Linux? Will it handle more than windows or anything?
Linux is just fine–unless you have some need for a feature of a windows plan–but that would be some need not related to WordPress.
Doesn’t mean your own local PC can’t be Windows.
Please note, that WordPress won’t cost you a cent more, and this advice is provided for only $1,000,000.00. I’ll send you the bill 😉
One last q before the upgrade, will Deluxe Hosting with ASP hosting with linux be fine?
the check is in the electronic mail!
I don’t believe there is such an animal.
Just go for the Economy Linux (isn’t it the same price as the Economy Windows). If you don’t like it upgrade later.
Thanks for that money. I’m off to Aruba.
Also note, that the change to a Linux account may take 4-24 hours to be completely active.
Arg, upgraded and canceled the windows account and I still get this so far:
Your domain rastasean.net is not available for this hosting account. Setup can not continue because this domain is being used by the following application: Hosting
Off to the store. Maybe it will clear up by the time I come back.
It could take a while as I said before.
Okay, it looks like the linux server is online. Is there an easier way to upload all the files? Last time I created a directory for every folder and then put the files in it. There has to be an easier way!!!
Get FileZilla. Then review Uploading WordPress to a remote host. You can upload the complete WordPress set of files in a single upload.
Well I’ll try all of this when I get home tonight and if everything goes well, I’ll start blogging.
Hopefully I can mark this “resolved” very soon.
thanks!!
This is now a successfully resolved problem!
Now if I could understand RSS feeds for podcasting!
