Just spent a frustrating 6 hours trying to get WP working, which is turned out was due to MySQL5 running in its default "strict" mode. Are the developers aware that this doesn't work? Specifically, a lot of fields which the software ignores MUST be explicitly filled with a zero-length string or a NULL, including post_excerpt, to_ping, pinged.
