I created a new table "certificates" in the wordpress database and have stored data in it. Right now the data looks like this

    id company certificate_number validity
    1 dezinefine 12345 2012-09-09
    2 Simple Minds 9999 2012-09-09

Now, I want to create a form on a page where visitors can input the Certificate Number and search. I have very little knowledge of PHP or mySQL. Can someone help me if ti not too complicated a process?

I suggest starting with a Google search of (something like) "PHP how to search MySQL table" to get yourself at least started.
    An example would be:
    http://www.webreference.com/programming/php/search/index.html

The combine that with Custom Queries from the Codex:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Custom_Queries

Perhaps another option would be the Search RegEx plugin:

    Thank you Rachel.

I found a plugin that did the work beautifully. The name of the plugin is DB-Toolkit. It is an easy plugin to use.
