I'm getting a lot of these errors lately:

[Sat Mar 22 15:35:46 2008] [error] [client xxxxxx] WordPress database error MySQL server has gone away for query UPDATE wp_options SET option_value = '0' WHERE option_name = 'doing_cron'

It's always about this 'doing_cron' thingy. Anyone has an idea what that could be?

    Thanks a lot!

"MySQL server has gone away" is a generic error which basically means that your database timed out.

There is no easy fix, you need to ask your host why the database keeps disconnecting you. Or switch hosts.
