I had started a site on WordPress.com and then decided to use WordPress.org instead. When I try and run the installer script for my site (http://fretboardconfidential.wordpress.com/wp-admin/install.php) I get this message:

    fretboardconfidential.wordpress.com is no longer available.

Following the various tutorials on WordPress and my host, Laughing Squid, I have downloaded the WP files, set up my database, and uploaded the WP files via FTP using the temporary FTP address Laughing Squid provided. Prior to receiving this message, I also deleted my old .com version of the site completely (I had barely begun it) and have also gone into my account at GoDaddy and put in the new nameservers for my domain that point to my new host. (If these specific company references are frowned on by the forum, my apologies, I'm new here and trying to be as clear as possible about the steps I've taken so far).

Any idea why I can't proceed with creating a configuration file? I did, early in the .com process, do a paid upgrade for my url to appear without ".wordpress" in the title, but I can't imagine that's relevant at this point...?

fretboardconfidential.wordpress.com is your wordpress.com site. What is the url of your self-hosted WordPress site?

That's actually what I've been doing all along, and it's been automatically responding with the .wordpress.com version in the error message above. I'm thinking that maybe since, while I was on the wordpress.com version, I did the paid upgrade for my site to *appear* as fretboardconfidential.com, that could be part of the problem, and that's why I deleted the wordpress.com version completely.

Try emptying your browser cache. This should ensure that your web browser fetches a fresh copy of the page rather than serving up an out-dated copy from your own cache.

Right on! I cleared the cache and the correct window now appears. Thank you both for your help.
