    Hi All,

Started up a website not too long ago with a few mates and just wanted to gather a few opinion's on how it looks and feels? link

I'm also looking into the SEO side of things and have recently downloaded the plugin Yoast. I've fiddled around with it but am still struggling to make my site SEO friendly. When you type 'The Cheap Shot' into google, the first search result is my site but it looks messy and cluttered. Ideally I'd like to give a brief description of the site as opposed to the categories which are currently showing up. Any suggestions?

    Cheers,
    Tom

Why worry if you are on top of the list in the search results for that keyword phrase? Maybe you can use platinum SEO Pack or SEO ultimate. Those plugins make it easy to enter meta descriptions for posts and pages and the results will show up on Google.
Maybe you can replace some pictures with the brief description. Your home page is loading a bit slow.

I find the header a bit.. cheap and the letters are to large in my opinion. I would personally also remove the .
What about the copyright on the pictures, video's etc. Do you have all the rights? I like the overall design of the website. User friendly.

Overall, it's a clean look and well done. Here are a few things to consider:

    - Your header is way too big. On a 1280 x 800 resolution, more than half of the real estate is eaten up by the nav and header. Part of the scroll falls below the fold.

    - Your site seems to hold a mish mosh of topics. Not sure if there's a theme to your content other than that it's all related to entertainment. You could add a tag line that quickly explains what your site is all about.

    - Not sure why you have two sets of top nav?

Thanks for your help lads, really appreciate your advice. Sounds like reducing the header is a priority!

I was just concerned that if users were googling 'the cheap shot' and our site came up looking like it currently does, people are going to be turned off the site. Just want to make it look more legitimate.

You're right in saying that the site doesn't have a specific theme, which is probably hurting our traffic a bit. I'll need to do a bit more marketing research and look at the analytics to see which articles are getting bigger hits.

Will get rid of the other navigation bar!

For any other readers, I'd really value your opinion on other areas of improvement!

    Cheers,
    Tom

Currently using WikiCommons for pictures. Not ideal at all as there is not a great variety on offer! If you have any other suggestions on what I can do for pics I'd love to hear about them.
