[resolved] My website looks horrible on different browsers... what can I do? (15 posts)

There's something different wrong with it on every browser... whether it's my sidebars are way off the page or my html colors aren't showing up or my posts are way off to the side.

    What can I do?

I'm using the mts-journey theme and my site is BrittanyWigand.com.

I forgot to mention that I use Opera as my main browser, and my site looks fine on it.

Yeah, it looks rotten in FF, IE, Opera 9.1, and Safari. All have horizontal scrollbars except in IE. That's probably a very old theme.

    What can I do?

Change theme to one that is compatiable across different browsers. Check out http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/

  4. And find a new theme that validates or claims to be valid XHTML.

Your current theme shows 244 errors at http://snurl.com/opr1y [validator_w3_org] and that's one of the reasons why it looks bad accross all browsers.

Can you recommend a more recent theme?

Preferably one that is pretty customizable... since as you can see I use my own headings, backgrounds and banners.

One on my sites had that problem, upgrading the theme should do the trick. To edit the date text just go to the time and date setting in the wordpress dashboard

Buy Stylizer or get Firefox with the addon Firebug (al free). With Firebug yu can inspect your site and after clicking on an item it shows the css part of the style.css that inflences that part. Really helps.

(I want to change my theme but im scared to death)

Don't experiment on your live site. Set up a test site and try things out there. When good: than backup your main site and do the same tricks again for your main site.
