Hey so I’ve been having trouble figuring out the “Read More” option when adding a post to my site. I realized there is supposed to be a button that allows one to do so but according to examples I’ve seen my blog is set up differently. I am up to date with 3.1.1 but here is what I’m seeing when I click “add new post”

What do I need to change, or update to see the full menu options?

Use the more button where you want the Continue Reading to appear.

I tried that but nothing seems to happen? But my other question is why don’t I see it like this:

Perhaps your theme doesn’t honor the more tag. Or it uses the _excerpt instead of the_content. Have you tried switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

why don’t I see it like this

Because you’re using the HTML tab and not the Visual Editor.

Its true I may be using the HTML editor but as you can see I don’t even have an option for a Visual editor

Check that you haven’t disabled it in your Profile.

Look for rich-text editor on your Profile page (Users->Your Profile).
