I've just updated to 3.2-RC3 and my themes folder is gone!
Here's the list of folders an docs in my wp-content folder:
.svn
/cache
/ics-importer-cache
/index.php
/plugins
/upgrade
/uploads
No themes!
I'm with Dreamhost. They run php 5.2.17. Is that the problem? How can I recover the content of the themes folder?
How did you upgrade to 3.2-RC3?
I can see a themes folder on a download from WP, and an SVN pull.

I was using 3.2-RC1. I simply clicked on "Update" under "An updated version of WordPress is available."
Luckily my host offers a reliable backup service. I was able to revert to an earlier version of my blog, complete with themes folder.
I'm foolish enough to have built a website for a friend on a development version of WP. In the light of the last events, I think i'll go for the classic version instead. Is there any way I can 'downgrade' to 3.1.4 apart from a fresh install?

I wouldn't bother, the fact that 3.2 is in RC status mean's that 3.2 is about to be released. It should be released very shortly.
I notice you have a .svn folder in there, how did you install the 3.2 RC? by using SSH on the Dreamhost cli, or by downloading the .zip and uploading the files?
Is this something you can reproduce? (Ie. try to update again, after backing up your files, does it remove the themes folder again?)
If this is a bug, this is the first report of it, and there's been thousands of RC installs, it's something we need to get on top of :)

hi in my wordpress site display error "Please make sure your .htaccess file is writeable " i change my .htacess file permissions after the message display again

Thomas - /ics-importer-cache also caught my eye. You may have a plugin conflict. If you can revert to RC2 and then try again, with the plugins off, that would be great :D

Nothing automated, the usual way is to just upload the files from the RC zip file.
That being said, since there were no changes to the upgrade methods during RC, you should be able to visit Dashboard -> Updates and select 'Update Now' to install the latest nightly, That should reproduce it if it's repeatable.. I'll be doing a few test runs over the weekend to confirm I can't see any issues too though.
