   Hi!!!!

   I have been using Snow Summit as my WordPress Theme. I hit a problem I'm not sure how to fix or how it happened!

   I was dealing with some spam comments. To try to stop them I was on this site:

   I was doing some things to stop the spam and when I tried to do step 4 by adding the code they gave in my functions.php file I got a server error on my blog that looked like this (click my blog to see) http://blog.bridgetteraes.com/

   I removed the code from the function.php file and the problem thinking it would stop the error but it did not fix itself. I reached out to my host's tech support and they said that there was a problem with the theme.

   I asked around for help and someone told me to download the theme again and when I did go to download it here http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/snow-summit I got a an error message stating that the link appears to be broken. This got me thinking that maybe it wasn't because of the code that my blog failed to work, perhaps it is the theme that has a problem or a bug. Also, I can't even get to my admin page or log in to my blog at this point!!!!!

   This is pretty dire if you can help me I'd be MOST appreciative!!!!!!

   I'm a bit of a newbie with wordpress blogs so please forgive me in advance if I ask some follow up questions to any solutions!

   HELP!!!!!

   someone told me to download the theme again

   The Theme Repository is currently undergoing development, so performance may be patchy for the next day or so. Try again in a few days time.

   In the meantime, just try renaming your current theme's folder in wp-content-themes using FTP into your site (or whatever file management application your host provides). This will activate Twenty Ten and get your site back up again.

   Login via FTP and navigate to the wp-content/themes/ folder and rename the Snow Summit folder to something else. This will cause WordPress to go back to using the default theme.

   Okay, found the file. So I just rename the Snow Summit theme and this will default to Twenty Ten? Will I lose things like Plugins and other stuff that I have on my blog?

   Then when I want to go back once Snow Summit is fixed can I just rename Snow Summit back to what it was?

   Your plugins won't be touched and your blog content is safely stored in your database. Once you have access (and the Theme Repository is stable again), I suggest re-downloading just Snow Summit.

   I think I got it! I had to reactivate my plugins and I am using a different theme because Twenty ten is ghastly. I will redownload Snow Summit when it is stable again.

   One last question. I seemed to have lost all my widget information. I downloaded snow summit again and it seems to be working. However, I lost all my widgets (ads, my rss button, etc.) do I need to re-add that stuff or is there a way to retrieve it?

    You'll need to re-add it, I'm afraid. It's the downside of going through the theme folder renaming process.

    Not a problem!!! Thanks so much! A small price to pay to have a working blog again. Thank you!

    BTW- While I am updating, I want to add a better RSS/Facebook/YouTube/Twitter, etc. icon at the header of my blog. Do you know of anywhere I can get something that is good looking and clean?

    Are you looking for plugins or just icons/graphics?

    Icons and graphics so I can add the text code to a widget and then place at the header of my blog.

    Smashing Magazine is usually a good resource for free graphics/icons.
