• After putting in a number of hours designing a theme for a friend, he decided that he didn’t really like it. So, I’m thinking about releasing the theme for general use. Please take a look and let my know what you think or if there are any problems with it. It’s a basic 2-column theme with a vintage/retro feeling to it. http://bryce.thelionrampant.net/

  • Very cool indeed. I like this one for its fluid design and overall “look”. My only whinge is that the hyperlinks are a little light to contrast to the background.

    like the content 😉
and the design is very creative/retro works well!

I remember when you first showed this, I really liked it then, and like it now. What didn’t he like?

I would say the header image is quite empty with the bloginfo sitting in the upper right corner.

Thanks guys. My friend decided that it looked girly. I’m not sure why, but I wish he’d made that decision a little sooner. I had originally designed the header as it is with the thought that it would be reasonably easy to add a pic on top of the current banner to customise it a bit. Good idea?

pizdin, I’m assuming you are referring to the hyperlinks in the main blog section, not on the sidebar. I see what you mean. I used the color b/c it’s the same blue that’s used throughout the theme. Maybe I could darken it up a bit.

Yes, hesed2 I was talking about the main content hyperlinks. Overall, you design has a very nice “fun feel” to it. Good work.

Girly is in the “pales”. Jazz that color schema up some, and it wouldn’t be girly…. Hardbody brown, black edgyness, deep coin-gold highlights, maybe some cave-diving cerulean….

that is a very nice site… though the colors i think could be improved however, my first initial reaction was “whoa!”… so sharpen the colors and I think you’ll have a Winnn-ah!

It looks nice. I like the green.

I really like it, but do agree that the colors need a little work. The headers seem to fade into the background, and the bg & container color, perhaps should be a bit more muted, this can give your images, headers and text a bit more pop.

I do like the retro feel to it, though. Very cool.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I have to same I’m a bit surprised, since I think the colors add to the retro feel of the theme. I’ll work with it a bit in the next few days and see what I can come up with. Thanks!

errrrr….sorry for the multiple posts…is anyone else having problems with posting? I clicked “send post” and nothing appeared to happen, but apparently something did!

Really cool hesed2. My only suggestion is to change the colors in the post headers, or add some letter-spacing so that its easier to read.
