   Hi,

   My site is painfully slow. It takes like 10 seconds to load some pages or to post a comment.

   Is there anything I can do to make things faster?

   Maybe your connection is very fast indeed. Some people are complaining that it takes a lot of time when posting a message and looking at the archives.

   painfully slow indeed - on my DSL, your main page (about 63K) took 49 seconds - Sept archive page (about 100K) took 52 seconds.

   there are lots of .js scripts and non-optimized images - your banner image is 468x60 @ 18K - optimize that, you can get it down to about 1.5K

   A little here, a little there?

   By optimizing, you mean decreasing the quality of the image, right? Would people notice this?

   But is it seriously possible that things like images can slow down the pages like this?

   What else can I do, besides throwing the .js files to garbage?

   Would something like super-cache plugin help me?

   @myinstinct: I had a lot of trouble changing from ISO-8859-1 to UTF-8 and some part is still in the first one and others in the second one. Could this affect the speed of the site?

   I tried the validator, but in UTF-8 it reported an error and in ISO-8859 it reported numerous errors.

   What do you think I could do to speed up my site?

   I get a 404 error message after the comment is written.

   So weird.

    Hmm... Ok I got this problem right. Simply deleted part of the permalink (%C2%BB) that was problematic.

    But still, my blog is so slow. I really would appreciate some help.

    for me - seems to load twice as fast today as it did yesterday

    Hmm.. Thanks, but twice as fast means 26 seconds to load a page instead of 52?

    By the way, do you know why my right sidebar does not show correctly in IE6?
