my images are out of order-help!

My slides are showing in random order (the same way every time)
I uploaded them in the correct order
and they are labeled 1,2,3,4…
they are in the library,
the permalinks are in consecutive order with #1 being the lowest, and #16 bing the highest permalink #

so what do I need to do to fix this?
