I have three contact forms on my website serving varying purposes. I have previously received four form submissions which worked correctly, the last one being ten days ago on March 18th. I was speaking with someone today who said that they had submitted something, but I never received an email, and when I checked the back-end nothing had been recorded. I asked him to try again, and still nothing happened. Finally I tried it myself, and found that it didn’t work for me, either. In fact, none of my three forms are working anymore!

When you hit the “Submit” button it seems to just refresh the page. It doesn’t display the confirmation message, it doesn’t email the form to me, and it doesn’t record the form submission in the plugin’s backend.

The only thing I can think of that has changed since March 18th, when the last form was submitted, is that I enabled WP multisite and created a second site on March 21st in order to utilize subdomains.

Does anybody have any ideas what could be going on?

One of my forms is available at http://academyofvoices.org/contact

Same for me, I do see the confirmation page though, but nothing is saved and I don’t receive any email. Everything was working fine not long ago.

Updating to version 2.4.4 seems to have resolved my issue.

Unfortunately, I am already totally upgraded.

I just tried deleting and disabling multisite entirely, deleting the plugin, dropping the plugin’s database tables to completely start fresh, and reinstalling the plugin, and it’s still not working.

And yet it is still working on a different site of mine!

    Anybody have any fresh ideas?

So the really strange thing is that no contact forms seem to be working on my site… I’ve tried Visual Form Builder, Contact Form 7, Contact Form Manager, and Easy Contact Forms, and none of them seem to work.

Easy Contact Forms is the only one that actually gave me an error. It said “error. status=0” which according to their support page usually indicates that “the site domain names in WP Settings Word Press Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) fields are different.” I checked, and they’re not.

I’ve seen that a lot of other people having trouble with contact forms are having trouble due to the server not sending the email, and so I tried the common solution, which is installing the WP-Mail-SMTP plugin. I set that up and sent a test message, and the email was delivered correctly. So the problem is not due to that…

Any more ideas? We really need to be able to have working contact forms, including with the ability to upload files.

So, even stranger yet, it actually only doesn’t work on certain pages. I created new pages and tested them there, and they all worked except one.

The one that didn’t work finally did work when I no longer included a textbox which was validating URL and no longer submitted a website starting with “http://”.

So I’ve got my forms working again. But I really don’t understand why they didn’t work before… And I kind of wish that I could still use the old page slugs rather than the new ones, but these will work…

    I have a similar issue:
    – with all required fields filled in, hitting “Submit” has no effect, no confirmation message is displayed, and no entries show up in the DB. I have upgraded to the latest version.
    – I did note that with an incomplete form (not all required fields filled in), it does highlight the missing data if I hit submit.

    Hey nai888…

I’m experiencing the exact same issue as you with MU network and no on-page confirmation, email, etc. Two weeks ago it was all working fine…?

I don’t fully understand what worked for you here:

The one that didn’t work finally did work when I no longer included a textbox which was validating URL and no longer submitted a website starting with “http://”.

    Can you be more specific?

I did create a new test form with only one required field, on a new page, and that responded the same.

    Thanks so much…

    Update// no good news…

I created a new site on my multisite installation (not a copy of an existing site).

I created a new form with VFB with one field, the preset ’email’ field and made it required.

When I submit, it’s the same issue, the page refreshes, but there is no on-page confirmation or email sent or entry in the dashboard.

Is it a multisite issue? VFB works great on the dozen other sites I have it on.
Except, it worked 2 weeks ago?

    Hi, hunnicutt77,

I don’t fully understand what worked for you here:

The one that didn’t work finally did work when I no longer included a textbox which was validating URL and no longer submitted a website starting with “http://”.

    Can you be more specific?

In the form I was referencing, I was asking for people’s websites. It was then validating the URLs, which meant that it was forcing a website to include “http://”. For some reason, the contact form wouldn’t submit if the website included “http://” in the URL, so I had to remove the validation in order to get it to work and then include a help/description for that item to tell people not to include “http://”.

In order to get it to work, I actually had to completely disable multisite and delete the other multisites (for my use they were not actually needed, just useful), and then I had to move the pages to new slugs that hadn’t been used while the site was a multisite.

All in all, it was a very frustrating experience, and I’m not sure why it was happening, especially since it was happening for me with several different contact form plugins, not just this one.

I’m sorry, that’s probably not super helpful, but that’s what “fixed” it for me…
