I'm starting up a gaming blog and I'd like to have a block of text that sits in a sidebar that I can update with the game I'm currently playing. I'd also like that text to link to my review of the game or anywhere else.
Is using the "text block" widget the best way to do that, with some HTML spiced in?
What's the best way to find a plug in like that?

That would be cool but I think it would be dependent on the game/system that you're using. Which game system are you using?
The text block widget works. For example, I play Steam based games so adding to my sidebar a text widget with this text inside
<img src="http://steamcard.com/do/original/barney_must_die.png" alt="Steam Badge" />Works for the games I'm playing.
