Well I have never had a blog or wordpress site before but when I bought a new vehicle two weeks ago I decided to start a blog. Hopefully this will prove to be useful to others as I share tips about the vehicle over time etc..

Anyway what do you think of my first attempt? Any suggestions so far? Keep in mind I still have to add the gas mileage tracker and a few more articles. But I think I got me theme customized the way I want.

    Feedback would be great!

From first impression blog looks more like professional blog. content is also good. only two thing which i would like to point out.

    1) your post content font is little small as compared to post title.you can try font size 1em or 12px.
    2) White background makes content and navigation links unnoticeable.

You can put more link in your post, rather then having whole post content on your home page. this will reduce scrolling.

Very professional. I like your use of whitespace. I think that with proper SEO, your site will be quite beneficial to Grand Caravan Drivers.

    Good luck

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was also considering a bigger font for the content. It is so tough to decide as I read an article that said 48% of web users are still using 1024 x 768 resolution. When I view my site in that resolution it looks ok. I think I will try to make a finer balance though by increasing the content size a bit and reducing the heading size a bit.

Your point on the navigation links is a good one. I viewed the site on a few different monitors and the majority of them do tend to make the links unnoticeable. I adjust it later tonight to have a better contrast.

Any tips on good SEO anthon1?

For me it was misleading to have a "read more" link under a post that is already shown completely on the index page.
Either remove it or use it properly.

Moshu - I agree 100% and I tried to do that. In fact I would like to have the index page view more like a "Category" with snippets of each story. For example, if you click on the "General News" you will see that it displays appropriately with the read more link. Is there an option in word press to display this way or do I have to manually edit the index.php template?

So far this feed back is great! Keep in mind the site is still in the wee stages of development. In fact I am trying to finish the content first making the overall look secondary until that point.

    Manually.

Great tips guys. I implemented some of the tips above. I found that making the content text bigger and the headers a bit smaller to give the page a better overall appearance. I also think it made the links easier to see.

I modified the index.php to fix the "read more" problem. Also I learned that you can add "<!--more-->" to any post and wordpress will automatically insert a "read more" link splitting your post.

Now I still have to work on a little SEO (search engine optimization) and plan to start that in a week when I get caught up in the content. Does any one have any good articles on SEO with wordpress so I can start to think about it?

    Cheers,

    CH...
