    i am a beginner at css, so i made some basic design changes to my blog, and now some of the dates on my posts are repeatedly disappearing and reappearing. also, i would like to hide the line of post data that always comes below the date--is there a better way to do that than putting it inside a < !-- ---> tag?
    please help!

    twink, ouch. A link to your site would have been more helpful. I have no idea which line of post data "below the date" you're referring to. The article title maybe?
    As for the disappearing dates, this http://wordpress.org/support/?action=search&searchFor=date+on+every+post sort it out?

    "repeatedly disappearing and reappearing" led me to believe it was an IE "thing" (floats and bg-colors) but you may be right. A link is the only way we'll find out at this point.

    ah, sorry about that. the code. my blog is located at http://www.castelcampo.com/ollie.
    also the post data i am trying to hide is the line of text between the date and the article title that says: posted by, category, edit this, etc.

    Here's the stuff from index.php
    Post title line
    <h3 class="storytitle" id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>">" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link: <?php the_title(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></h3>
    The 'posted by....' line:
    <div class="meta"><?php _e("Filed under:"); ?> <?php the_category() ?> — <?php the_author() ?> @ <?php the_time() ?> <?php edit_post_link(); ?></div>
    Your post:
    <div class="storycontent">
    Delete as required :)
