I am not prepared to sell a website with a plugin that requires the end-user to install third-party software. If the client is savvy enough to understand that this is not weird or some scam, they are also asvvy enough to buil their own WordPress website.

    Hi @Bakabaka,

I'm sorry the plugin hasn't met your needs and for any confusion. As mentioned under "Requirements" on the plugin page:

Wizard application requires Adobe AIR (auto-installer included)

The installation dialog that appears at the top of the dashboard guides the admin/client through the editor application auto-installer (which installs the Adobe AIR runtime if needed). These docs cover how that works: http://www.dwuser.com/support/easyrotator/wordpress/ .

Obviously, not every plugin is perfect for every use case. EasyRotator for WordPress is well maintained and offers extensive functionality. Other plugins are more limited and/or don't receive regular maintenance. If the installation of an external editor application doesn't meet your use case requirements, then you should choose one of the other many options. As a general tip, I do recommend that you review the "Requirements" section before installing a plugin; this should help you avoid wasted time.

Again, I'm sorry that EasyRotator didn't meet your needs.

    Sincerely,
    Drew O'Neill

Thanks for your reply and advice.

You are completely right in that I should have read the plugin's requirements. I am a lazy person though, and when I'm searching for a certain a functionality, niceties like that easily fall by the wayside.

Since I seemed to be the first person to review your plugin from a perspective of having to also make my customer comfortable with the plugin, I thought I'd share my thoughts and opinion.

    Hi @Bakabaka,

I appreciate you sharing your perspective. While there is admittedly a little more up-front effort required for the client to get set up to create/edit rotators with EasyRotator, many developers/designers feel the simplified editing experience is worth the initial investment. (As I'm sure you have discovered, the editing experience with many plugins is a little difficult and/or confusing!) Understandably, though, every client's needs are different.

Thanks again for contributing to the discussion and giving feedback. We'll certainly keep this in mind as plugin development continues.

    Sincerely,
    Drew O'Neill

    Bakabaka,

You may wish to believe as you do, Sir, however, I am a savvy tech person and the simplicity offered for an Actual Business person is priceless. If you have time to sit and learn Html, CSS, Java, and other web based languages, or you have hundreds of dollars to spend on learning the infrastructure, you do that. While I'm in the process of learning how to use these tools, my business can not sit at a stand still, I gather many others are unable to, as well. Sometimes, we have to delegate our resources.

    How is your business doing?

Anyway, I like the product and as long as the "third party" (who is actually from what I can tell, a part of WordPress, though I could be wrong..) is reputable and helpful, I don't really care.

    Thanks for the comment though.
