• My blog has completely disappeared. I did nothing to it. I last posted May 25. There were readers in it as late as June 4. I cannot even access the admin page.

    link to site please?

    try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress by using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    http://www.gingerbreadguts.com is the site

Thanks for your help in trying to help me sort this out. Biggest problem is that I am a complete neanderthal on the techie side.

So, do I just go into WordPress, the overall site, and then try to noodle my way back into my own site as I cannot get into to even the most basic part / home page of my site.

Ask your host if they have a problem on their end. The site was briefly back on-line. A “500 Internal Server Error” can be temporarily.

I did contact the support staff in the little address, and they have been back to me twice now, trying to figure it out. In that time, the site has been up and down about four times – so I am relieved to see that it still exists. Sad thing is that it reduces my confidence in WordPress.

Well it might not be WordPress it’s fault. With “500” errors you’re never sure. But yes, sometimes things go wrong at the WordPress end. Now your site is up again.

Many thanks for coming along with me on this (somewhat scary) journey. Just showed me how much my blog matters to me (and the writing within). I am very grateful. The Netfirms support guys just emailed me to say that it was all fixed – no explanation as to what happened, but it’s there again. Hopefully to stay! 🙂

Again, so grateful for your support.

Seems to still have issues, I just got a 500 error with a message to contact support

Yes, I see that. So I have gone back to Netfirms, who have the cryptic little message in it to contact them. 🙁

my website ‘powered by wordpress’drjeannettekavanagh.com.au has disappeared twice. I bought my own domain name, but assumed that WordPress would be a quick and easy way to establish a site. When I say disappeared, it keeps reverting to an empty shell with images from the 2011 theme. I don’t think I can be bothered spending the time and money getting the site up and running again because I don’t know why my site and pages and content are fine one minute and gone the next. As to finding help – it’s taken me nearly an hour going round in circles to find this. If anyone can help that would be super but if not, the world will continue to rotate on its axis and the transit of Venus will still occur.
