I have just discovered my blog has been hacked. I took down the index.php and added a placeholder page - here is the hacked page that was showing to the world:
    http://www.nelsonusa.co.nz/index2.php
I am very distressed as our club is in the newspaper today with the web address for people to visit. I don't know how to get my old site back as I tried to log in but it's not accepting my username. If anyone can help me with the steps I need to take to save my site - I would appreciate it. This has made me shake with annoyance!

    Host doesn't have a backup?

If you have access to PHPMyAdmin: http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/phpmyadmin/ will help you reset the password...

Could you post you log file here?

  4. A good reason to make sure to always be running the latest version and to make sure to have a secure password. ;)

We discovered the possible security flaw is in fantastico - the cpanel plugin that allows a one-click wordpress install. Apparently, if you use the same username/password for wordpress as your ftp access, there is an exploitable opportunity for a hacker.
