I want to set up multiple WordPress'. Each family member will have their own on a seperate subdomain and I want there to be the main WordPress which just reads from all of the individual family memeber's sites. Is this possible? How would I do this?

Yes, it's possible and pretty easy, too. I have a second copy of WP on my domain (not in a subdomain) so that I may play with templates...
Anyway, all you need to do install it in the directory on the subdomain that you want it.
