Hi, i have found this nice tutorial in web http://keithjameslock.com/wordpress-mu-with-subdomains-godaddy-shared-hosting/. Does anybody tried this? It is about using WPMU without the wildcard support in godaddy shared hosing. But it is not working in my case. I have contacted there but it looks it will take lot of time. So, if anyone did this before please reply.

The total conception is making the subdomains manually in godaddy panel rather than making it by wordpress. I am having 403 error. Check here http://arlingtonheights.citystirchicago.com/ the domain has the wordpress installed and running well.

I was also wondering it the error something i did wrong with multisite and not related to the tutorial at all. I am new with multisite. Here is another topic in this subject which is really confused me :(

    Thanks in advance!

I read on GoDaddy that they do not support subdomains with multisite.

Call GoDaddy. They are very eager to help.

I am new to multisites so my understanding is limited. But I am learning!

It is possible, that's what the tutorial showing. It's just i don't have enough experience to make it work :( hope some advanced people make some reply.

  4. I don't use GoDaddy but I know this. GoDaddy will only support subdomain multisite if you have a DEDICATED IP.

  5. Speaking from an experience user standpoint, setting this up on GoDaddy is harder than pretty much *anywhere* else.

The wildcard support is needed for creating subdomains from wordpress panel right? if so the problem is not causing for wildcard support. What is the other reasons that can cause 403? is anything needed to be added in apache config?

I don't use GoDaddy but I know this. GoDaddy will only support subdomain multisite if you have a DEDICATED IP.

If i purchase dedicated ip will i able to make multiple sites of wordpress networks?

  8. It's a permissions error.

Also, if you can get to the apache config.... you can have wildcards.

What about using subdirectories for additional domains/sites?
Everyone is talking only about subdomains.
I made additional site in subdirecotry but I could not find tutorial how to configure domain and what should be additionally configured in WP.
