Multisite – sub domains individual admin 404 error

Hi,

I have installed and reinstalled Multisite WP using softaculous and both times have had the same issue when adding new sites (sub domains)

The main install is fine and adding new sites seems ok as they show up in the dashboard after creation. But when i click:

1 – to go to their individual dashboard (http://test2.mydomain.com/wp-admin/) i get a 404 Not Found error message

2 – if i click to visit the site (http://3test.mydomain.com/) i get the “Index of /” page just showing the cgi-bin

My host package can and I did add the wildcard sub domain (*.mydomain.com) which shows up in ftp and public_html as _wildcard_.mydomain.com

Should the test sites appear in public_html as their own sub domain or what should happen with them?

As totally new to multisite wp i have no clue what the issue may be or what i need to do. Any advice or links would be appreciated as i can not find the help i need in the forums or elsewhere on the web as not sure what terms to use!
