Multisite site to Single site?

I’ve looked around a bunch and have noticed that while there are a few good entries out there on how to import a single site into the a multi-site install. There is a relative dearth of tutorials and use cases on pulling a site from a mult-site install (WP3), and setting it up on a different server, in it’s own single version install.

What i’m looking for is not a quick and easy method, but rather a proper, safe and effect method.

My plan is to develop sites locally in a multi environment, but depending on client’s needs – export the sites to their own hosting accounts or my live server.

Has anyone had experience with this? Thanks very much!
