Multisite Site Missing

In WordPress MU (multi site), if you delete a user can that delete a site? I deleted a couple of old users yesterday and I noticed today that one of my sites was deleted (and all of the associated blogs). There are other people administering the site, so perhaps it was a coincidence. I can’t think of any other reason one site might suddenly get deleted unless one of the other admins deleted it by accident.
