Multisite Options (5 posts)

    Hey,

I've done some searching, and I cannot find any solid help regarding my situation.

I want to start a blog with numerous large categories. I am contemplating three options:

    - Installing WP on my main domain, and using a rather complex system of categories and pages, manage all the content.
    - Having multiple WP installations on subdirectories (i.e. an installation on domain.com/topic1, an installation on domain.com/topic2, etc.)
    - using WP multisite.

Can anyone suggest the best option? I know this has been discussed before, but my specific questions are what I could not find the answers to:

    - I possibly might have content that may fit under two or more topics. If I go the multisite or multiple installation option, is there any way to have the content appear on both sites without double posting?
    - If I go the multisite or multiple installation route, is there a way (other then RSS feeds) to get posts from all sites show up on my home page?

    Thanks in advanced!

    Nope.

Heck yeah. In multisite we talk about this all the time, and it;s even mentioned in the forum sticky. ;)

Thanks for your reply. With all the time that I have spent searching for things related to this blog, I must have overlooked that :)

I guess my next question is if you have any advice, pros/cons on how to organize this. Lets (for a generic example) say that I am starting a blog for live music in the city of NY. I have categories for all the different genres. I would also like to have sub categories for each genre, like News, Upcoming events, etc.

Would it be best to have a multisite installation with a blog for each genre? or would it be better to have one installation with a more complex system of categories?

My issue is this: What happens when I have "News" as a sub category for "Jazz" and "Rock". I know that I cannot have two of the same sub categories, or that I can't have a subcategory with two parents, but having a "news" sub category for each genre (i.e. "Jazz-News", "Rock-News", etc.) seems clumsy to me.

    Any suggestions?
