• hello. please help! i have a multisite installation that must run 10 sites. i am the only administrator so no other admins or rolls have been or will be assigned.

each site uses the same theme, but with different settings, eg. colours. but for some reason all the sites use the settings of the first site, no matter what i settings i change on the other sites.

i had this exact same installation before and it worked perfectly but i had to redo the whole site as it was hacked. i am running better wordpress security and wordfence (if this helps at all)

im desperate for a solution! thanks so much

even stranger – it allows each site its own favicon and logo. its just the colour settings πŸ™ its a huge problem as each site as a different company but all part of a group and the colours is what distinguishes them

    my linkn is http://formeset.co.za/
and to see the problem with the colouring, click the last icon (blue) flexibles. i have not yet redone the other sites.first need to sort this problem out. i cannot put each site on its on db as the host does not allow enough databases.

How are you changing the settings for the main site?

the theme has a built in admin panel that allows you to change colours, fonts, upload logo’s etc. on my previous installation it worked 100%. can you help please?

Are you using any plugins to share plugin settings?

    Thread Starter GRzell

    (@grzell)

i dont think so? should i? is there one you can recommend?im trying to use as few as possible plugins as possible as their network antivirus setup sees some plugins as threats and then blocks their site.

No, I’m not asking because you should or should not πŸ™‚ I’m asking because I can’t see your install (no, I won’t log in for you). Since I don’t know what you’ve got going on behind the scenes, I have to ask questions. Don’t worry.

Since this worked previously, what’s different?

    Thread Starter GRzell

i really dont know why its not working. ive actually even tied other themes and completely wiped installations including the database a few times as i thought maybe it was an installation problem.
other themes did the same thing. im now even trying child themes (with a child theme plugin) and its not working.
    any ideas?

It’s not the other themes that comes to mind, it’s what’s different.

    Take a deep breath. πŸ™‚

    1) Are you on the same server?
    2) Are all the plugins the same?
    3) Did you chose subdomains or subfolders (and is that different from the working sites)?

    (@grzell)

    thanks for your patience!

    1. yes the server is the same (its for the same company and their hosting company has not changed)

    2. ive dropped a few plugins from the previous installation but ive added 2 security plugins – wordfence and better wordpress security. im not using the clone site plugin this time. just manually recreating each site.
    3. im using subfolders – same as original working installation.

Okay, drop the security plugins for now. Just remove ’em from your new site totally. You can put them back later, but let’s assume the normal problem is a plugin conflict.

    Thread Starter GRzell

if i remove them, will my file structure not be affected? i created an alternative location (via a function in better wp security) for my uploads to secure my theme files etc. also my login slug has been changed (via a function in better wp security) i dont want it all to come crashing down as my client wants to launch tomorrow…

    Thread Starter GRzell

ive disabled and deactivated both security plugins – no difference

i created an alternative location (via a function in better wp security) for my uploads to secure my theme files etc.

How? Cause… That could be messing everything up. I mean, right there you said for your theme files.

Odds are that’s what did it. Put the themes back where they belong.

By the way, moving your themes will not make them more secure, since when I view-source on your page, I’ll know exactly where they are.
