I am the admin for a Multisite install with 185 blogs at an educational institution. We have the need for a couple of the sites to run BuddyPress. I have seen the instructions to make this work, but most of the articles are a little older. Are there any problems that I'm not thinking ahead about turning on multisite for a child blog of a multisite parent install?
The buddypress installs do not need to talk to each other and will be totally separate.

I see that it is possible, but was wondering if it is recommended to create a multisite network within a multisite network.

Define 'recommended'?
You can do it. It's a little hassle to maintain, but it works.

Hey Mika, Yeah, sorry, recommended is pretty generic. Will it break with WP updates I guess is my real question? Will DH support it? :) Thanks!

Does DH (DreamHost?) support it: No, but that isn't the right question ;) Does DH permit it? Yes!
(Support is a hazy thing, we support WP to an extent, but we're not a consultant for hire to do all your installs, tweaks, etc ;) )
