[resolved] multisite - move site between networks (5 posts)

hello and thanks for this great plugin.
I have a scenario I couldn't make it work, involving moving a site between two multisite installs.

I have two multisite networks in different servers, one for development and another for live production sites.

During development, a site is created in the development network and fine tuned. When ready (or approved by the customer, if such is the case), the idea is to move it from the development multisite network to the production multisite network, located in a faster server with all the CDN bells and whistles. It is then mapped to a domain using the MU domain mapping plugin.

Right now I make sure the relevant plugins and themes are in both networks and then have to export content+widgets from the dev network and import into a site in the production network and reconfigure all the theme's and plugins settings. It's OK with standard wordpress sites, it's a pain whenever there are plugins or themes customizations (for example, layer slider or themeforest themes).

My question is, can your plugin do that? Get all the information, configuration, tables and files from one site within a multisite newtork, export it, and allow to import everything to a new site within another multisite network.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

unfortunately no,it won't work on a MU install. it's only suitable for single site/single DB installations.

    Hey Apessoa,

I've been working on a manual way of doing it - not a one click solution but might be worth fine tuning

Try something working with Backup Scheduler, http://wordpress.org/plugins/backup-scheduler/

it will parse the backup so that there is a completely separate sql file for the subsite - then your restore that file from within phpmyadmin After editing the table prefix

MainWP "might" be able to move the plugins - with their clone extension, but not tested - manually doing it might be just as easy -

having the subsite sql file for restoring is what makes it sort of work

not a complete solution but something to look at
