[resolved] Multisite is down for no 'clear' and apparent reason. (6 posts)

    Hi,

I have built over a dozen WordPress websites so figure I have relatively good understanding. This Multi-site is my first, and all 'was' going to plan.

Everything was working fine, I have a master site that I have made considerable build adjustments too and it was coming along nicely. I had created a sub-domain site on the network which, again, was working well.

This is a personal project so I left the multi-site a little over a week ago to concentrate on a client build. I got a little spare time so thought I'd drop in on my multi-site to do a little tweaking and building.

The site has dropped out with no access from any browser "Oops! Google Chrome could not find yourwebsite.com" The site favicon is still showing.. Bizarre.

    No FTP access.

Now, the only thing I can think of is that I had some server down time around a week ago and upon re-boot, this site has not fired up. All other WordPress and other sites booted up fine.

I'm only able now to use C-Panel, I have checked all mandatory passwords etc..

I'm completely stumped, never experienced anything like this before and ideas on what I should be troubleshooting greatly appreciated.

A quick search on your Chrome error retrieves posts from others describing similar symptoms with Chrome in some situations.

Have you tried another browser, to eliminate Chrome as the problem?

Hi dgilmour, thanks for your response.

Yes, I have tried cross browser checks and unfortunately:

IE: Oops! Internet Explorer could not find alphakratos.com
Mozilla: Server not found: Firefox can't find the server at yourwebsite.com.

  4. Check your domain on http://www.whatsmydns.net/

    Cheers Ipstenu.

Looking into it, the wildcard had seemingly made dual entries within the dns zone settings, two domainkey's webdisk's etc. Very strange.

The server did have some downtime around a week ago and I can only assume that this issue was born right after the server reboot. Are there any other reported cases of such with multisite?

Just need to keep my eye on it I guess, should there be any downtime in the future etc.

  6. That doesn't sound like Multisite, but something wonky server side.
