• Hi,
I apologize if this is a repeat question but I can’t seem to find a solid answer for this.
I have a WordPress multisite installed in a subdirectory on my server in a folder called wp. I need to remove the /wp/ directory in the URL without moving all the files to the root directory (so http://www.mysite.com/wp/ becomes http://www.mysite.com). Everything I’ve read thus far says that you can’t use the method of placing the modified index.php file and .htaccess file in the root because it will break the site. Is this true? If so, is there a way where I can remove the wp directory in the URL without moving the files to the root? I’m pretty comfortable changing database tables if that’s what’s needed.
    Thanks for the help!

    Eeeh.

If you were starting new with 3.5, that’d be easy. I don’t know how to do that with an existing 3.5 site.

I would install a NEW WordPress install in domain.com/wp2/, make that run from it’s own directory, per normal, then activate multisite. Import your old content, and off you go.

Thanks for the information! I’ll go ahead and try to install it in a new directory.
