Hi, I have created a Network for doing a bilingual Website. Is it correct to use the root site of the network as the default english version of the site and to add a site with /fr adress for the french ? Instead of creating a network with 2 sites one with /en and one with /fr because then people land on the root and I have to use a php code to re-direct them. My question is can I use the network root as my english default version. See for exemple http://www.moimeme.org the default english is there and then if you click on fran├žais it will bring you to the /fr

Yes you can, and that would be the way I would do it. Looking at your site you already implemented this, so what is the question?

Thank you for your answer, I saw that it was working but I was not sure if it was correct to do it this way. I was overly insecure LOL, it was so much simpler then I first thought it would be, I guess I thought it seem to easy to be true :-)

I am trying to translate my theme and have found the pot file and also opened it with POEDIT, but is there any reference text or do I need to translate each line on my own, surely there is a way to find most common string translated in french somewhere ?

try translating your theme with this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/codestyling-localization/
It can scan your theme for all translatable strings and create po and .mo files.
Use the instructions in this tutorial on how to use the plugin.

Thank you very much again, but will it get in conflict with the french wordpress that I already use on http://www.moimeme.org/fr

I am getting a little confuse about this process, it seem it is done in a 2 steps manner where step 1 is to put the fr_fr.mo files in wp_content - languages folder and select the language of wordpress in the Setting - General

Then step 2 is to translate the theme string and upload another fr_FR.mo file in the wp_content - themes - languages folder.

The plugin that you suggest would be use in replacement of step 2 ?

Please keep in mind that I am running an english wp website on http://www.moimeme.org and a french wp at http://www.moimeme.org/fr on a Network.

I am re-opening this old thread because I have a problem with the plugin : http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/codestyling-localization/

It shows error message when I try to add a new language to my theme.

    As follow :

Error: The actual loaded translation content does not match the textdomain: thesis
Expect, that any text you translate will not occure as long as the textdomain is mismatching!
This is a coding issue at the source files you try to translate, please contact the original Author and explain this mismatch.

Warning: The actual loaded translation content contains mixed textdomains and is not pure translateable within one textdomain.
It seems, that there is code contained extracted out of other plugins, themes or widgets and used by copy & paste inside some source files.
    The affected unknown textdomains are:

I would love to resolve this issue because I use Thesis theme all the time now and I love this localisation plugins.

Can anyone help me out ? The site on which I am trying to use the plugin is : http://www.juliecloutier.com/mylene I want to translate the Leave a comments part and all else that is in english in the blog post area for exemple here L http://www.juliecloutier.com/mylene/greenfield-park/#more-404
