Hi all
I have a problem with the DNS settings of my site.
When i try to go to the page http://www.mydomain.com/page1 it redirects to http://mydomain.com losing the page1.
When i remove www it works.(Ex. http://mydomain.com/page1 it shows page1)
It also works for other sites on my installation. (Ex. mydomain.de with or without www)
The plugin WordPress MU Domain Mapping is installed and i point to the server using the server ip.
mydomain.com is my main domain of the mu installation, but i cant seem to add it to the domain mapping list.
How do i fix this. Thansk in advance for any feedback

Did you map BOTH domain.com and http://www.domain.com in the plugin?

That is maybe the problem. Somehow i can't add the domain?
What steps are you follownig to add the domain? Are you getting a specific error preventing you from adding it?

First i go to networks administrator then press Domains.
I have added mydomain.dk/en to point to site 2.
And added mydomain.de to point to site 3.
They both work with www.
But when i try to add mydomain.dk to point to site 1. Nothing happens. No error description. I can add mydomain.dk to point to site 2 but not change it afterwards either trough the edit button.
Thanx for your fast response.
Oh. Okay, yeah, you don't map site #1. That way lies madness.
At a guess, it's your DNS not being mapped propperly.

So i don't need to map site #1? Or do i need to move the site to another id, maybe #4 and then map the domain to #4.
In my DNS settings i have made a cname record in cPanel where *.mydomain.com points to mydomain.com
I think * should be an A name.
Mine has * as an A at least. Not *.ipstenu.org, just * alone. However I also have www, and that's set as a CNAME to ipstenu.org. (yes with a trailing .)

Hi again.
I tried changing from cname to an A name
Still redirects wrong
Testede with web-sniffer.net, and http://www.mydomain.com returns a "301 Moved Permanently" and then a "Location: http://mydomain.com"-header
Again the www disappears
If you main site is not doing the www/non redirect properly then:
a) domain mapping will not help, as explained earlier
b) domain mapping is muddying the issue here and does not interfere with the function of the main site.
Talk to your web host first. Ask them if they have anything stripping the www off.
Also - when you installed WordPress, did you install it at http://www.yourdomain.com or yourdomain.com?
