[resolved] Multisite Dashboard shows Page not found error (5 posts)

Hello, I've been trying to get my WordPress multisite installation to work, which is integrated with Magento.

After solving many different issues by reading just about every post on the topics I'm now really stuck and this is the last hurdle for me to have it working properly. So I really hope someone knows the solution.

The frontend of both blogs work fine. The main blog admin works fine, but the dashboard for the second blog keeps showing the 404 error for page not found.

    Here's blog one: http://www.itbagz.com/blog/
    Here's blog 2 on different TLD: http://www.itbagz.nl/blog/

They work ok from the same admin and I can manage the first one but the dashboard for the second one doesn't.

In case it matters, my current htaccess for it is as follows per instructions found on the forum:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    # uploaded files
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$2 [L]
    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $2 [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(.*\.php)$ $2 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]

The one suggest the admin panel is as follows:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /blog/
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) chroot/home/itbagzco/itbagz.com/html/articles/$2 [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(.*\.php)$ chroot/home/itbagzco/itbagz.com/html/articles/$2 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]

What to do? Many thanks in advance.

  2. Are these mapped domains or separate installs?

Hi Mika, thanks for your reply.

I guess it's mapped. I've just setup a domain pointer in the control panel with some htaccess rules (see below), which worked for the frontend and the backend for the primary blog.

Is there anything else that needs to be done?

    Regards,

I've tried mapping through the WordPress MU domain mapping plugin, but that keeps saying it needs to be installed in the root folder and it's not.

My blogs work fine on multi domain now even with using the installation in a sub folder, just the backend, so there must be a workaround for this one would hope.

    Any ideas?

Got it working after editing the site url in the Network Admin for WordPress Multisite, it wasn't set to the other domain yet.

So no need for mapping plugin or installation in root fortunately!
