[resolved] Multisite, Aweber, & First Name on signup form - How to? (9 posts)

Using multisite, with users added an aweber list on registration, is there any way to get a first name field on the signup form?

If not possible, does this mean my only option is to make the email list separate, but then they'll need to signup on 2 separate forms?

I'm sure it's possible, but in the realm of "you'd need to code it" not "here's a plugin". ;)

A possibility may be if I use an autoresponder by itself and prompt them with a link to create an account in the welcome email.

  4. I know that you can do this with buddyPress and extended profile settings, but that might be a wee bit of overkill.

Yeah, I was thinking BP & overkill too.

  6. I'd also posit that auto-registering people for an email list (I THINK that's what Aweber is...) when they sign up for your site is in poor taste. It's perilously close to spam unless it's opt-in.

yeah, very true. I think the minimum you could get away with is a checkbox that defaults to UNchecked for "and sign up for our list".

BP is a bit much, basic accounts are enough. They get great benefits by registering and opting in. I have member only downloads on my site, and exclusive downloads for my list. I was hoping to tie the two together seamlessly. The auto-sub to my email list is also double optin so there would be no spam.

Sounds like the membership plugin should handle this part maybe?
