Im not quite sure i understood well the multisite documentation entry. I want to maintain 3 different blogs (2 businesses and 1 portfolio), with 3 different domains, themes, looks, etc, but manage them from within 1 account. Is multisite my answer? or is it better to make 3 different installations and give admin permitions to 1 account? I will be using videopress and i dont want to pay for 3 different accounts either.

If you want one central account for administering it all, then Multisite would be the one to use. It's pretty easy to find a hosting company that will let you host multiple sites with a single account, but you would still need an administrator account in every WP installation.

  3. Better is subjective :)

Multisite gives you an edge when you upgrade plugins and core WP. With Multisite, you upgrade one time for those.
