[resolved] Do I need Multisite? (7 posts)

    Hello,

I have set up a Twenty Eleven site, which is hosted by Bluehost and now I would like to set up two other sites that are completely unrelated. I would like each site to show their own domain names/URL to the public. All sites are generally just informational sites and they will all be managed by me alone with no other users.

To avoid adding additional hosting accounts, is Multisite the right thing to do at this point? Or is their a simpler alternative? I am very new to this.

    Thanks!

'Simplier' would be parking a domain and installing a separate WordPress install in the resultant folder. Or you can use Multisite and map domains. If you don't think you'll ever want to move the sites 'apart' and onto their own separate hosting, I'd use Multisite.

Could you explain a bit more about how to do this? Would it keep the domain names completely separate?

On CPanel it's actually using an 'add on' domain. Basically it means my account, ipstenu.org, has an added domain called (let's say) LPstenu.org which points to a folder: /public_html/LPstenu.org

Everything runs out of that folder, but the user sees it as being it's own domain. Ask your host if you can do that.

OK, so by doing this, would I have a separate wp-admin and wp-content folders in this add on domain folder? Sounds cool!

Yeah :) Ask your host if you can do it, first! Not all permit it!
