Multiple Problems with WPMU installation (14 posts)

I recently installed WPMU on my WordPress and Buddypress installation. WPMU works fantastically, but I have ran into a number of problems on the admin side of things.

    1. When I go to write a new page or post, the layout is warped, the text is white and it won't let me pubish.

    2. On the widget menu, it won't let me drag and drop, remove or edit widgets.

    3. When you click on the 'Blogs' tab on the public site, the rest of the nav-bar disappears.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!

    Deactivate BuddyPress and BP plugins.
Do a manual reupload of WP files via FTP or cPanel.
Check if #1 and #2 have been resolved - only then do you reactivate BuddyPress and BP plugins.

Are you actually using WordPress or WPMU?

I'm checking becasue it's no longer WPMU, and there are a couple hosts still doing auto-installs of it. If it's 3.0+ you're fine though.

    I'm using a WP 3.0 install.

Just followed your steps, everything working apart from the widgets.

  6. 2. On the widget menu, it won't let me drag and drop, remove or edit widgets.

I wonder. Can you drag/drop menus on the Appearance -> Menu section?

This may be a browser issue.

    Or a plugin issue.

... Or going multisite with BuddyPress and BP plugins activated, maybe. Curious how long this intsallation has been live with WP/BP and if multisite setup was in subdomain or subdirectory structure.

If it were a new install, I would start from scratch. Go multisite, check if everything's working well in install, before installing/activating BuddyPress.

  9. Well, I'll put this out :)

I'm running Multisite with BuddyPress and a slew of BP plugins. No widget problems at all :)

First rule of troubleshooting: turn off all plugins. :)

OK - the widgets now work, but nothing else??

Turn on the plugins until you find the one that makes the widgets not work.

  14. And remember to turn off the ones in mu-plugins too!
