Multiple Issues

I am having several issues some are def user error.

I am building a new site and have my domain. I uploaded WP to my domain and was building my site when I noticed that the site URL had a /wp added to it. After looking at post on how to remove this I attempted the method of placing a “redirect” I guess,

update_option(‘siteurl’,’http://example.com/blog’);
update_option(‘home’,’http://example.com/blog’);

within the function.php of the current active theme. After doing so, my site has lost all formatting as well as my dashboard. I’m not really sure how to fix this error and my site still has this /wp behind the domain name. Any help here would be appreciated.

Also I have removed the work around from the function.php.
