Multiple Google entries for my site - why? (4 posts)

    Hello all! First post!

I'm new to this and recently set-up http://www.soundstock.co.uk. When I search "soundstock uk" in Google it's bringing back four different results for the site, all with different URL's. Two of them link to the home page, one to my blog page, and one comes up with an error message.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how to rectify it please?

Don't wanna get dumped by Google for duplicate content or anything like that!

    Many thanks

    Ross

Don't sweat it too much. Looking at the search results it looks like G is returning various pages for your site. I saw the one was just a coming soon page. G will catch up in time, but put your best foot forward by concentrating on your site. Make sure the you have logical organization and navigation. Also install an SEO plugin, I use Yoast's plugin but many people swear by all in on seo as well.

the plugins help you prepare your meta data for the search engines and also keep your site maps engine friendly. Also, don't forget to blow and update your site regularly with good content. Do more than just post videos or pics. Write stuff. Give the engines relevant text to index, they will catch up in time and they search regularly updated sites more frequently than static sites.

Cheers Prometheus. As long as it's not harming me I don't mind, though obviously I don't want anyone clicking on the duff link that leads to an error message.

I have Yost SEO plug-in, which is very handy.

I have a blog on the site which will be updated all the time too.

Will keep an eye on it, and see if the issue resolves itself over time.

    Thanks

I'm going to stay subscribed to this thread for now. If Google doesn't catch up in 2-3 weeks, post again and I'll get a note. I think I may have some other ideas you can temporarily implement to point G in the right direction.
