    Hi,

I'm looking at wordpress for the first time, and Have been looking for this answer for hours - I guess it's an easy question for anyone with some experience, so I hope someone can help.

I want to use WP as a CMS, and I'm thinking about SEO.

Here is an example of what I want to do (not real). Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

    http://www.flights.com/from-miami/
will show a page listing all routes from miami

    http://www.flights.com/from-miami/to-chicago/
    http://www.flights.com/from-miami/to-paris/
    http://www.flights.com/from-miami/to-london/
will....well you get the idea :)

    http://www.flights.com/to-miami/
would ideally show the same page as
    http://www.flights.com/from-miami/

as the info is not unique enough to warrant a separate page.

    And the same for:

    http://www.flights.com/to-miami/from-chicago/
    http://www.flights.com/to-miami/from-paris/
    http://www.flights.com/to-miami/from-london/

And then of course the same for:

    http://www.flights.com/to-chicago/from-miami/
    http://www.flights.com/to-paris/from-miami/
    http://www.flights.com/to-london/from-miami/

    And finally:
    http://www.flights.com/from-chicago/to-miami/
    http://www.flights.com/from-paris/to-miami/
    http://www.flights.com/from-london/to-miami/

Can I do this in WP?

    Thanks for your help :)

I'm going to have to say 'maybe' here, as I'm not sure what I'll suggest is what you're asking for.

At present I don't know of a way to allow for multiple name 'slugs' for any one category, but with the ability to assign multiple categories to a post you can set up categories like:

    /to-miami/
    /from-miami/

and link relevant posts to both, or rather have child categories of:

    /to-miami/from-chicago/
    /to-miami/from-paris/
    /to-miami/from-london/

    /from-miami/to-chicago/
    /from-miami/to-paris/
    /from-miami/to-london/

and assign the appropriate children to a post. But this means you would be required to set up the various from/to categories and then all the related from/to child categories, which based on your example here could get pretty numerous.

Hmmm, thanks, that's food for thought, you're right - it's not perfect, but I think it could work like that.

I had been looking at using the pages instead of posts, but I think that's a dead end.

Doing it your way would mean I didn't have lots of duplicate content, which would be great, but I would have a very complex category system.

So I would need a way to only display relevant categories based on where the user was at any given time.

    Thanks again :)
