    Just want confirm this.
    Two Questions:

    1. When I install WordPress on my main domain, if I want to install it on my sub-domain, I have to install the whole wordpress into that sub-domain's directory.

    2. Not only that but each installation requires one database each right? So if I want to set up 100 sub-domains I need 100 databases?

    Thanks

  2. Yes, but there are alternatives: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_Multiple_Blogs

No. You can install multiple blogs on a single database. You just have to specify a different table prefix for each one in the database - the default prefix is "wp_", so you might make them "blog1_", "blog2_", etc.
